Coram Deo has been an immense blessing in my life

Dear Mr. Marshall,
Coram Deo has been an immense blessing in my life. In a culture of busyness and demanding schedules, it gives me the opportunity to slow down and to disciple and train my children. I am so thankful for the opportunity to partner with a staff that loves the Lord, and desires to serve Him with all of their hearts. It is an honor to partner with teachers who share the same vision for my children as I do. The academic standard set at Coram Deo has pushed my children further than I would have the capability to do on my own. The rich literature, history timeline, and rigorous math have drawn my family together as we have toiled, laughed, and explored life together. What a privilege to be a part of a school that has given the gift of "my family" to me.

Tenth Grade Blue Wins Alfred Cup

A standing room-only crowd thrilled to a dramatic Alfred Cup Debate Championship showdown in the Coram Deo Auditorium Wednesday afternoon, April 20th. So closely-contested was the event that judges announced the 11th Grade team the winner, only to reverse their decision when a scoring miscalculation was discovered that evening. Thus, the 10th Grade Blue team reigns as champions of the first annual Alfred Cup school debate championship.

CDA Readies for a Readiness Visit

Our school will soon welcome a representative of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) for a "first look" at Coram Deo Academy. On April 22nd, school leaders and select faculty will entertain questions from the representative on our commitment to standards; in turn, we will pose questions to the representative about what we must do to become fully accredited. SACS wants to know if we are ready for accreditation. Ready, that is, for the hard work ahead. We want to know everything that accreditation entails. With the successful completion of the Readiness Visit, CDA will become a candidate for accreditation and launch our Guided Self-Study, a top-to-bottom review of our compliance with standards, dedication to continuous improvement, and commitment to quality.
Please pray for God's blessing as we labor to improve the quality of our school and the achievement of our students.

Great Books - Delmore Schwartz's "In Dreams Begin Responsibilities"

Rare is the short story that can be both intensely personal and thoughtfully detached, painfully private yet open to public scrutiny. In Delmore Schwartz's short story, In Dreams Begin Responsibilities, the author's personal, family history is made to flash across the screen of a movie theater. Here, you and I sneak a glimpse of undisclosed moments; we hear secret thoughts spoken; we experience the dream of a poet written in prose.
Join us Thursday, April 14th, 7:30pm at the upper school to discuss In Dreams Begin Responsibilities. Carolyn Kotyk will lead. Copies of the selection are available at the upper school front desk.
